The SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 Wireless is a multi-platform headset that pairs a 2.4GHz USB-C dongle with Bluetooth 5.0. This guide covers the original model, which major outlets reviewed in 2022. SteelSeries has since launched a Gen 2 version, which is noted below.

What published reviews found

Comfort and build. Tom's Hardware called the Nova 7 very comfortable, with well-sized earcups and a clamping force that allowed long sessions. Guru3D highlighted the cloth memory foam ear pads and lightweight, durable materials.

Sound. Tom's Hardware found gaming audio better than music playback. It described lows that were present but underwhelming, plus some muddiness in music, and said a wired connection improved quality. The outlet also noted the Nova 7 lacks the higher-fidelity drivers of the pricier Arctis Nova Pro, despite a nearly identical look.

Microphone. Tom's Hardware rated the microphone strong for voice communication, and noted the retractable design stays out of the way. The Gen 2 reviews were less kind: KitGuru called the Gen 2 mic thin and lacking depth, and Tom's Guide called it tinny.

Battery and connectivity. Tom's Hardware confirmed the 38-hour rating and fast-charge figure. It also listed 26 hours when Bluetooth runs alongside the dongle, which is worth knowing if you plan to keep a phone connected at all times.

Gen 2 changes. Tom's Guide reported that the Gen 2 model raised battery life by about 40 percent, to up to 54 hours. It also called the Gen 2 mildly overpriced and advised buying only during sales. KitGuru's Gen 2 review gave 54 hours on 2.4GHz, 42 on Bluetooth and 38 with both active.

Price and availability

Tom's Hardware listed the original at $180 in August 2022, and Guru3D cited a $169.99 list price in 2023. Tom's Hardware also noted sale prices between $135.99 and $149.99. The Gen 2 listed at $199 in Tom's Guide's February 2026 review and £179.99 in KitGuru's May 2026 review. Current prices vary, so check retailers and our gaming headset deals page. We did not find a source on whether the original has been discontinued.

Who it's for

The original Nova 7 suits players who move between PC, PlayStation and Switch and want phone audio mixed in through Bluetooth, with a comfortable fit for long sessions. It is a weaker fit for Xbox owners, listeners who prioritize music quality, or streamers who need a standout mic.

If battery life matters most, the HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless carries a much longer rating but lacks Bluetooth, and our Nova 7 versus Cloud Alpha Wireless comparison covers the trade-offs. For a wired option, see the Razer BlackShark V2. Anyone building a wireless setup might also look at our Logitech G PRO X Superlight page for a wireless mouse to pair with it.

Bottom line

The sources describe the Nova 7 as a comfortable, flexible headset whose strengths are connectivity, battery life and a usable mic, with music playback and driver quality sitting below the Nova Pro. It makes sense at a sale price for multi-platform players. If you are paying full price, compare it with the Gen 2 model, which carries a longer battery rating.
