Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 7, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how GameRath ("we", "us") collects, uses and protects your personal data when you visit gamerath.com (the "Site"). GameRath's primary audience is in the United States; where applicable, we also process data in accordance with the California Consumer Privacy Act / CPRA and, for any EEA/UK visitors, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Data controller
The data controller responsible for your personal data is:
- GameRath, an independent online publication
- Email: contact@gamerath.com
Data we collect
We collect the following categories of data:
- Usage and analytics data: pages viewed, time spent, referring pages, approximate location (country/region), device type, browser and operating system, collected through our analytics tool.
- Advertising identifiers and cookies: identifiers set by advertising cookies to serve and measure ads, and — where you consent — to personalise them.
- Technical data: IP address (which may be truncated/anonymised), and log data generated automatically by your browser.
- Data you provide directly: for example, if you contact us by email, the content of your message and your contact details.
Purposes of processing
- Operating, securing and maintaining the Site;
- Measuring audience and understanding how the Site is used (analytics);
- Displaying advertising and measuring its performance;
- Personalising advertising (only with your consent);
- Attributing installs when you follow a "Play free" link to a game offer, so the game publisher or ad network can credit GameRath for the referral;
- Responding to your requests and messages.
Legal bases
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): for non-essential cookies, audience measurement, and personalised advertising. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): for keeping the Site secure, preventing abuse, and basic operation. You may object to processing based on legitimate interest.
- Performance of a contract or pre-contractual steps / legal obligation where applicable.
Third parties and recipients
We share data with the following categories of service providers and partners, who process it on our behalf or as independent controllers:
- Google AdSense and advertising partners: to serve, cap and measure advertising. See Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses data.
- Affiliate partners: Amazon Associates (US) and other retailers linked from our Deals and Hardware & Gear content, for purchase attribution.
- Cost-per-install (CPI/CPA) ad network: AfBooster and the game publishers whose free-to-play install offers we feature, for referral and install attribution when you click a "Play free" link.
- Analytics provider: No third-party analytics tool is currently in use. This section will be updated if one is added.
- Hosting and infrastructure: Cloudflare, Inc.
We do not sell your personal data for money. Depending on how "sale" and "share" are defined under California law, some advertising and attribution cookies may qualify as a "share" — see Your California privacy rights below for how to opt out.
International data transfers
Some of our providers are located outside the European Economic Area (for example in the United States). Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or applicable adequacy frameworks.
Data retention
We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described above:
- Analytics data: Not applicable — no analytics tool is currently in use;
- Advertising cookie data: for the lifetime of the relevant cookies (see our Cookie Policy);
- Email correspondence: up to 3 years after the last contact.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data;
- Erase your data ("right to be forgotten");
- Restrict or object to processing, including processing based on legitimate interest and direct marketing;
- Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format;
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
How to exercise your rights
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@gamerath.com (no Data Protection Officer has been appointed; the contact email above also covers privacy-specific requests). We may need to verify your identity before responding. We will reply within the timeframe required by law (generally one month).
Complaints
If you believe your data protection rights have been infringed, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular the data protection authority of your country of residence, if your jurisdiction provides one.
Your California privacy rights (CPRA/CCPA)
GameRath is a US-focused publication, and most of our audience is based in the United States. If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), gives you additional rights over the personal information we collect, including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information (for example, for cross-context behavioral advertising).
To opt out of the sharing of your data for advertising purposes, use the cookie preference manager linked in our Cookie Policy footer, or decline non-essential cookies in the consent banner. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers we know to be under 16 years of age.
Children's privacy
GameRath is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children or serve personalised advertising to them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at contact@gamerath.com and we will delete it.
Cookies
Detailed information about the cookies we use and how to manage them is available in our Cookie Policy.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision.
